On April 28, the first joint conference of Confucius Institutes in Arab countries was successfully held at Dubai University. Zhang Baojun, Vice President of Beijing Language and Culture University, and Chen Lixia, Director of the International Education Administration Office/Director of the Office for Confucius Institutes Affairs, attended the conference.

The meeting focused on the cooperative development of Confucius Institutes, the performance management of Confucius Institutes, and the sustainable development of Confucius Institutes. Delegates at the meeting actively spoke and offered suggestions for the development of Confucius Institutes in Arabic-speaking countries. After repeated discussions among the delegates, the conference was a complete success.

The successful holding of the first joint conference of the Confucius Institutes in Arabic-speaking countries has enhanced mutual understanding among the Confucius Institutes, opened up a new page of exchange of different cultures and the use of other countries’ civilization, and cooperative development among Confucius Institutes in Arab regions, laid a theoretical foundation for the innovative development of Confucius Institutes and the construction of “the belt and road” initiative wisdom node, and pointed out the way forward.
