On the afternoon of March 24, local time in the United States, the second “Chinese School of South Carolina Chinese Contest” jointly sponsored by Confucius Institute of Nankai University and Nankai Chinese School was successfully held.  Sponsored at the University of South Carolina, the competition attracted a total of 28 young contestants to compete for the titles of “storytelling contest” and “speech contest”.

Storytelling plays a very important role in national culture. Many nations get to know, learn, and pass on their own culture by telling stories. These Chinese children in the Chinese School of South Carolina are no exception. Although they were born and raised in the United States, through learning Chinese stories, the genes of Chinese culture grow and pass on in their lives.

After the competition, Professor Ye Tan, foreign Dean of Confucius Institute at the University of South Carolina, and Professor Li Yue, Chinese Dean, presented prizes to the winners. Dean Li congratulated all the winners at first, then spoke highly of the achievements made by Chinese School of South Carolina in promoting Chinese and Chinese culture education among Chinese students in South Carolina. At the same time, he invited students from Chinese School of South Carolina to participate in the “Chinese School of South Carolina Chinese Star Contest” sponsored by the Confucius Institute at the University of South Carolina. I believe that next year’s “Chinese School of South Carolina Chinese Star Contest “will be better and more exciting because of the participation of Chinese students.
